April 5-11, 2017 - The Road to Alamogordo
My youngest daughter Maggie recently joined the Air Force. After boot camp, she received orders to Holloman Air Force Base in Alamagordo, New Mexico. Maggie has a nice car -- an Altima -- but the car is in Maryland and now she's in Alamagordo. As you might expect, she doesn't have the time to get the car to where she is. But I sensed a road trip opportunity here. I had stopped in Alamogordo on one of my long cross-countries in the RV and gotten a taste of White Sands National Park. I liked it and wanted to hike the white sand dunes. Plus there were some other things I wanted to see along the way. My son-in-law Don was interested in going so the two of us ended up making the trip and had a great time. Nothing like a road trip!
